According the the NFSA, aside from fire fighting & explosion fatalities, there has never been a multiple loss of life in a fully sprinklered buildings due to fire or smoke. Approximately 20 lives are lost each year in sprinklered building as compared to approximately 4,000 per year in unsprinklered buildings. Approximately 68% of those lives lost were due to explosions & 18% were due to the fact that the fire originated in an unsprinklered area of the building. Fire sprinklers save lives!
